A washed out practice session was followed by a bad news for Australian ODI team as vice-captain David Warner has been fallen sick before the series opener on Sunday at Melbourne Cricket Ground. A stomach bug kept Warner away from joining the team for the practice session, which eventually couldn’t happen due to rain.

Warner joined rest of his team on Thursday along with Steve Smith, who reached Melbourne late. However, team management feels he will be fine before the first One-Day International against England.

Meanwhile, star pacer Josh Hazelwood has been rested for the opening game and Andrew Tye can replace him. The rotation policy will strike Pat Cummins’ availability in the second game while Mitchell Starc, too, will be rested at some point in the series.

Amidst, Marcus Stoinis is very optimistic about team’s preparation and said “The T20 boys trained yesterday. It was only half of us but we got a good hit-out. We’ll have a good hit-out tomorrow. We train all year, every day, thinking about cricket and that sort of thing so hopefully missing a training session here and there isn’t a big deal.”

After claiming the Ashes series, Aussies will try to win the ODI series as well. On the other hand, England has emerged as a powerhouse in this format since leaving this very land after a poor World Cup 2015.
