Australia have recently announced their ODI and T20I squad for the tour of South Africa which will take place later this month. Glenn Maxwell and Matthew Wade have returned in the team. After returning from his international cricket break later last year, he has been doing exceptionally well in the Big Bash League (BBL) for Melbourne Stars.
“It is fantastic to have Glenn back in both squads given his brilliant form in the middle order for the Stars along with his results with the ball,” national selector Trevor Hohns said in a statement. “Glenn was one of the first picked in the most recent T20 team at the start of the summer, prior to his break from the game.”
Along with them, Mitchell Marsh has also been included in the ODI squad for the first time since January 2018. Ben McDermott and Billy Stanlake have been dropped from the T20 squad. On the other hand, Peter Handscomb has been dropped from the ODI side that played against India. However, Jhye Richardson who last played for Australia before the ICC World Cup in 2019, missed the mega event due to a dislocated shoulder, has returned to the T20I squad.

Surprisingly, Marcus Stoinis, who has been in prolific BBL form, has not been included in either the ODI or T20I side. Australia will play 3 T20Is and as many ODIs in South Africa. The first of those games will be played at Johannesburg on February 21.
