The visitors India clinched their historic Test victory on Monday when they beat the hosts Australia by 31 runs on the fifth day of the first Test of the four-match Test series at Adelaide Oval (Adelaide).

After winning the toss, India managed to score 250 in their first innings. In reply, the hosts were bundled out for 235 runs as India took a crucial 15-run lead at that stage.

In their second innings, India scored 307 runs and set a challenging target of 323 runs for the hosts. Chasing down the target, Australian innings ended on 291 runs as they were just 32 runs short from the target.
