Cricket Australia has been making news lately due to the ball tampering issue. Banning the former skipper Steve Smith and his deputy David Warner out of the game for a year by Cricket Australia has made them think about the captains to lead the team for this year. The Australian board is more concerned about the advent of the test against England in early June.
Darren Lehmann will be soon replaced by a new coach and the name would be soon announced by the board as said by CA. Justin Langer, Jason Gillespie and Ricky Ponting are the names taken into account for the head coach. The board meeting is arranged to discuss on eligible candidates for the new positions to lead the team. The chairman of the board David Peever said that the committee is busy on thinking about the method to select the perfect leader and coach. The names would be highly talked about before making public revelations.
“The Board has asked management to provide recommendations regarding candidates for the men’s head coach, ODI captain and ODI vice-captain,” Peever said in a statement.
“The Board is anticipating receiving these recommendations in the coming weeks, with a view to making appointments ahead of the ODI tour to the UK. Once these appointments have been endorsed and finalised, announcements can then be made,” he concluded.
Keeping in mind the England test on June, Tim Paine is announced as the immediate captain now. He is just named a captain of the test team but no clearance is made about him leading in the five ODIs and one T20Is against England.
CA has done a great job in taking such a step to keep the goodwill of the game. Warner and Smith apologized to his fans and crowds for the mishap. We are hoping to see them come out stronger after the 12-month suspension.
