Avesh Khan, the pacer of Delhi Capitals, was one of the positives in the recently suspended 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) where he returned with 14 wickets in 8 matches which came at a strike rate of 12.8 and economy rate of 7.7 as well. However, he was the joint second-highest wicket-taker of the league. Meanwhile, the right-arm fast-medium bowler, in a recent exclusive chat with Cricketnext, shared his friendship and dynamics with the new captain of the Delhi Capitals – Rishabh Pant.

The pacer has stated that Pant was a good friend of him and they spent a lot of time off the field while having conversations over many different subjects as well.

“Rishabh and I are good friends. We spend time together ever after matches, sometimes we have dinner together as well. Our discussions revolve around cricket mostly,” stated Khan.

Notably, Rishabh Pant has been in a sublime form in recent times which started with the tour to Australia in December last year. Since then, he has been giving a lot of match-winning performances as well. However, he was handed over the responsibility of captaincy as the regular captain Shreyas Iyer was ruled out of the tournament due to his shoulder injury.

And, Rishabh Pant led the Delhi Capitals brilliantly with 6 wins out of the 8 matches as well as taking them to the top of the points table before the league was suspended. And, Avesh Khan praised his leadership qualities as well.

“He displayed good leadership skills. The result is proof. He rotated his bowlers well. I enjoyed a lot playing under him. His form with the bat was excellent as well. He’s always encouraging us during the team meetings, always keeps the team above everything else,” further added Khan. “Both back their players. They are young players and I think both are quite impressive as leaders. Both consult bowlers before placing fields and advise us on where to pitch the deliveries.”
