In a crucial encounter between the Delhi Capitals (DC) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the iconic Eden Gardens, Axar Patel’s bowling heroics emerged as a beacon of hope for the struggling Delhi side in the IPL 2024 season. After a lacklustre batting performance, DC found themselves on the back foot, with KKR’s Sunil Narine and Phil Salt wreaking havoc with the bat.

However, Axar Patel turned the tide in DC’s favour with his exceptional bowling display. His first breakthrough came with the dismissal of Sunil Narine, injecting a much-needed momentum shift for DC. But it was his dismissal of the dangerous Phil Salt that truly showcased his prowess as a bowler.

Employing a cleverly disguised flat arm ball, Axar Patel deceived Phil Salt with his change of pace and trajectory. The ball curved back in sharply from a good length, leaving the English batter flummoxed as he attempted an ambitious slash. To Salt’s dismay, the ball crashed into the off-stump, signalling the end of his explosive innings.

Phil Salt’s contribution had been instrumental for KKR, setting a blistering pace with his aggressive stroke play. His knock of 68 runs off just 33 balls propelled KKR’s innings, with a strike rate exceeding 206 and a flurry of boundaries and sixes embellishing his innings.

Axar Patel’s timely interventions, however, halted KKR’s momentum and provided DC with a glimmer of hope in their quest for victory at Eden Gardens. As the match unfolds, Axar Patel’s pivotal role with the ball remains paramount, keeping DC’s aspirations alive in the IPL 2024 tournament.
