Despite captain David Warner (21) and Mitchell Marsh (25) getting stars, Delhi Capitals were reeling at 64 for 5 but Axar Patel and Manish Pandey stitched a 69-run partnership for the 6th wicket, which eventually came in a winning cause as Delhi Capitals held their nerves despite posting a par total of 144.

Axar Patel played the situation wonderfully well, smashing 4 boundaries for his 34-ball 34.Β The left-arm spinner stepped up with the ball as well. He got the big wicket of Mayank Agarwal, who was anchoring the SunRisers Hyderabad chase with 49. He also dismissed captain Aiden Markram for 3 as Delhi Capitals pulled off a 7-run win.Β

Speaking to Mukesh Kumar, who closed out the game for DC by successfully defending 13 runs in the final over, Axar Patel said his secret to success in the recent past has been his wife Meha Patel. Axar tied the knot with Meha, who is a dietician, earlier this year.

Axar Patel and Manish Pandey rescued the Delhi Capitals’ batting as the former finalists successfully won a couple of games on the bounce to give themselves a chance to get out of the bottom spot in the IPL 2023 points table.

The all-rounder explained, “I ordered a coffee. I like to have coffee before I go out to bat. So I thought, 2 wickets have fallen, I will have some coffee. The coffee cup was in my hand only when a couple of players came running and told me ‘bhai, go, it’s your turn to bat’. Coffee also turned cold and I had to go out. I went had a word with Manish Pandey. I asked him about the pitch. He also said he had faced only one ball. But people told me the pitch was slow. We wanted to take the game deep. We were able to build a partnership.”
