Indian all-rounder Axar Patel who injured his ankle just ahead of the series opener of the 5-match ODI series against Australia and he was replaced by Ravindra Jadeja.
Axar was then again named for the squads for the final two ODIs as while announcing the squad for the last two matches made just one change bringing in Patel for Jadeja.
Now, on the eve of the 4th ODI in Bengaluru, the reports of Sportstarlive are suggesting that Axar has now got hurt while batting in the nets. Soon, the team physio Patrick Farhart rushed in to provide initial treatment to the young gun.
Head coach Ravi Shastri and a few other members of the side too gathered near the batting arena to inquire if all was well with Patel. A few minutes later, he hobbled off the ground with a dejected face.
Even a reporter of Sportstarlive who was there at the stadium posted the news on Twitter. The seriousness of the injury is unknown as there is no official confirmation yet from the team management. Axar’s availability for the 4th ODI again comes under scanner after the incident.
With Axar again hurting himself, the team management needs to think about the alternatives again. Of course, that would depend on the seriousness of the injury.
There is a major rain threat to Thursday’s ODI with distributed showers predicted. Australia will be raring get into the middle and register a consolation win after being outplayed by the hosts in the series.
