On Thursday, Pakistan skipper, Babar Azam broke Virat Kohli’s record to become the fastest batsman to complete 2500 runs in the shortest format of international cricket during the semi-final match against Australia in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Dubai. Babar surpassed the landmark in 62 innings while Kohli had taken 68 innings.
Babar Azam went on to breach the 2500-run mark in T20Is in the ongoing semi-final game against Australia. He did so in record time, reaching the landmark in just 62 innings. In comparison, Kohli (the previous record-holder) had surpassed the landmark in 68 innings.

Australia captain Aaron Finch had asked Pakistan to bat first to bowl first after winning the crucial toss against Babar Azam-led Pakistan in Semifinal 2 of the T20 World Cup in Dubai on Thursday. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan got Pakistan off to a dream start in Dubai as they added 71 runs in the first 10 overs before Adam Zampa dismissed the PAK skipper for 39.
Pakistan is so far unbeaten in the tournament while Australia are coming into the semifinal after two back-to-back wins against West Indies and Bangladesh. The winner of the match will be locking horns with New Zealand in the final on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Cricket social media handle made a big blunder on Twitter. Babar Azamachieved the feat in 62 innings where he went on to edge past Virat Kohli. The former Indian T20I captain held the record for achieving the record in 68 innings. While praising Babar Azam, Pakistan Cricket Twitter handle posted the Test records featuring the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara, Sunil Gavaskar, Sourav Ganguly, and Vijay Hazare.
