The most eagerly anticipated inaugural edition of the Delhi Premier League, or DPL 2024, is all set to get underway from 17th August at the iconic Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Cricket fans really look forward to this new entry in the Indian T20 setup, set to ignite a fresh wave of enthusiasm into the beautiful game.
This time, it comes with the participation of six teams that will play against each other in the tournament, but before the actual cricketing action gets underway, a grand opening ceremony has been planned. The event will be glamorized with actress Sonam Bajwa and famous rapper-singer Badshah slated to perform at the function.
Sonam Bajwa, a youth favourite, recently teased her fans on social media with a video announcing her performance at the opening ceremony of DPL 2024. The tournament is all set to commence with the opening encounter between Team Purani Dilli 6 and South Delhi Superstarz at 8:30 pm IST.

The match will surely be a star-studded affair as India’s powerhouse wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant will head the lineup of Dilli 6. In the line-up will be the previously well-known pacer for the country, Ishant Sharma, making the contest all the more interesting. Led by the gifted batter Ayush Badoni, the South Delhi Superstarz will have no dearth of firepower either. Badoni has his support in the form of Kuldip Yadav and Shubham Dubey, both seen already in the Rajasthan Royals camp.

The DPL 2024 will also have some matches for women, basically trying to make it thrive with women’s cricket. The group of 40 matches will involve seven games for the women, while the rest of the 33 are for the men. On September 8, 2024, the tournament will be followed by its grand finale, which will definitely end the tournament on a high note, making the inaugural Delhi Premier League season a memorable one.
