Team India wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson opined on reuniting with Abhishek Sharma at the top of the order upon his return to the playing XI in the T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 match against Zimbabwe. He also scored a quickfire 15-ball 24 during the 72-run win at the MA Chidambaram
Stadium in Chennai on Thursday, February 26 as well.

“Adipoli (Superb). I am a bit surprised (that you can speak Malayalam), but yeah. We (him and Abhishek) keep it very simple. He keeps asking, ‘Paaji, kya ho raha hai?’ (What is happening?). I tell him, ‘Kuch nahi ho raha, ball dekh ke ghumao bas, aur kuch nahi’ (Nothing is happening, watch the ball and just swing the bat, nothing else),” Samson told ICC. “I really enjoy batting with him, so we both complement each other really well. So, really happy we could give India a great start today.”

Sanju Samson also admitted that he islooking forward to the tournament, but wants to retain his focus on the ongoing business end of the T20 World Cup 2026 for India.

“I have been very excited, but I am keeping that excitement a bit away. As you know, this is more important now, and I really value that moment. As of now, I think I need to be here and totally, and fully committed here,” Sanju Samson concluded.
