Bangladesh got off to a flying start in the three-match T20I series against Pakistan, making the most of home conditions at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. After opting to bowl first, the hosts quickly seized control, dismantling the Pakistan top order in the first half of the innings. By the end of the powerplay, Pakistan found themselves reeling at 41 for 4, with skipper Salman Ali Agha managing just three runs off nine deliveries.

Pakistan suffered a dramatic collapse against Bangladesh

The early collapse was triggered by Mustafizur Rahman, who struck early and claimed Hasan Nawaz for a duck, courtesy of a hard-length delivery that cramped the batter and saw him lose his stumps while attempting an uncalculated slog. Salman’s departure only added to Pakistan’s woes.

Fakhar Zaman looked promising and appeared to be the lone warrior in Pakistan’s line-up. His 44 off 34 balls included some well-timed strokes, but his innings was cut short by a run-out, after a misjudged second run with Khushdil Shah left him stranded. Earlier, Mohammad Nawaz had also fallen to a sharp run-out orchestrated by Litton Das and Mahedi Hasan.

The collapse continued as Pakistan were bundled out for a modest 110 in 19.3 overs. Taskin Ahmed led the attack with figures of 3/22. At the same time, Mustafizur stole the spotlight with a sensational economy, delivering 18 dot balls in his four overs and conceding just six runs for two wickets. Remarkably, five of Bangladesh’s six bowlers bowled at least 10 dot balls each, highlighting their collective discipline.

At the last update, Bangladesh had reached 36/2 in 5.2 overs, needing just 75 more runs from 87 balls. With Towhid Hridoy and Parvez Hossain Emon at the crease, the Tigers looked well poised to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
