This missed chance occurred during the 16th over of Afghanistan’s innings. Despite both batters ending up at the same end, the Tigers failed to capitalize on the error, although it ultimately did not cost them much.
The incident unfolded as Mustafizur Rahman bowled his final over. On the fourth delivery, Gurbaz played a cut shot to backward point, but his partner, Azmatullah Omarzai, took off for a run despite there being none available. Rishad Hossain fired a throw to the striker’s end, where both batters had ended up. However, the throw missed the stumps, allowing both players to scramble towards the non-striker’s end and end up safe.
