The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has rewarded the unsung heroes behind the scenes at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, announcing a cash prize of ₹25 lakh for the curators and groundsmen. Their recognition comes after successfully managing challenging weather conditions during IPL 2026, ensuring that all scheduled matches in Guwahati were completed despite frequent rain interruptions.

Barsapara hosted three home games for the Rajasthan Royals this season, and while each fixture faced weather disruptions, the ground staff’s relentless efforts ensured full results in all matches. Only one game, against Mumbai Indians, required a reduction to an 11-over contest. Impressively, Rajasthan Royals won all three matches at the venue, maintaining their unbeaten run.

Their contribution becomes even more significant considering that, out of 21 matches played so far this season, only one has been abandoned due to rain.

Rajasthan Royals have been the standout team of IPL 2026, winning all four matches and sitting comfortably at the top of the points table with eight points. Alongside Punjab Kings, they remain one of the only unbeaten sides this season. Led by Riyan Parag, the team now shifts focus to their upcoming clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad, with their remaining home games scheduled in Jaipur.

A major factor behind RR’s dominance has been the sensational form of teenage prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The 15-year-old has taken the tournament by storm, scoring 200 runs in four innings at a staggering strike rate of 266.67. Since debuting last season with a six off his very first ball, he has continued to impress, including a record-breaking 35-ball century—the fastest by an Indian in IPL history.
