The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the 15-member T20I squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Windies in West Indies and the United States, starting from July 31.

After the disappointing performances in the two-match Test series against the host Windies, where the Asian team lost by 2-0, Bangladesh performed well in the recently concluded three-match ODI series under Mashrafe Mortaza’s captaincy where they won by the 1-2 margins.

The Bangladesh team is now looking to continue their good limited-overs forms in the upcoming T20I series. The experienced all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan will lead the Bangladesh T20I side against the strong T20I team Windies.

There is only one change in the T20I squad from the last T20I series against Afghanistan in Dehradun, India in this early June, where Bangladesh lost the three-match T20I series by 3-0. The young left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman, who missed that series due to an injury, has been added in the latest squad and his replacement right-arm pacer Abul Hasan has been dropped from the squad. Mustafizur played the recently concluded ODI series where he picked up a total of five wickets in the three games.

The first T20I will be played at Warner Park, Basseterre while the last two T20Is will be played at Florida (US). All the T20Is will be the day/night encounters.

In the latest T20I rankings, Windies are at the seventh position while Bangladesh are at the 10th position. Even if Bangladesh win the T20I series by the 0-3 margins, they can’t jump in the T20I rankings but can come to closer rating points of no.9 ranked team Sri Lanka.

Till the date, Bangladesh has won only one T20I bilateral series outside the home soil and that was in Ireland in 2012 where the Asian team won the three-match T20I series by the 0-3 margins.
