The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is working towards expediting Rishabh Pant’s rehabilitation process in a bid to have him ready for the upcoming ODI World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in India later this year. Pant has been undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) following a serious car accident in December.

According to ESPNCricinfo, the BCCI is putting in significant efforts to bring Rishabh Pant back for the ODI World Cup. The 25-year-old has made remarkable progress in his recovery from multiple injuries sustained in the car crash, which has prompted the BCCI to seriously consider him for the 50-over tournament.

“Rishabh Pant’s quick recovery has surprised the BCCI and the medical staff at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, where the India wicketkeeper-batter is undergoing rehabilitation after he survived a serious car crash last December,” stated an ESPNCricinfo report.

While the BCCI is eager to fast track Pant’s rehabilitation process with the aim of having him ready for the ODI World Cup, it is expected that the recovery timeline will still take considerable time.

Recent developments indicate that Pant has started walking without crutches and can climb stairs without any support. Although he is currently reported to be pain-free, there is still a long way to go before he can fully return to playing cricket. The wicket-keeper batter, who is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the NCA under the guidance of physio S Rajnikanth, last featured in India’s Test series against Bangladesh in December.
