BCCI announces the women’s squad for the upcoming Sri Lanka tour

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the 15-member women’s ODI and T20I squad for the upcoming India women’s tour of Sri Lanka, starting from September 11.

India Women will play three-match bilateral ODI series and five-match bilateral T20I series against the hosts Sri Lanka Women. The first three Women’s ODIs will be played on September 11, 13 and 16 respectively. The ODI series will be counted in the 2017–20 ICC Women’s Championship where India Women’s cricket team is currently at the sixth position with just four points while the Sri Lanka Women cricket team is currently at the last position (eighth position) without opening their points account.

Later, both teams will meet for the five-match T20I series that have been scheduled on September 19, 21, 22, 24 and 25 respectively.

Mithali Raj will lead the India Women’s ODI side while the ODI vice-captain Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the T20I side and Smriti Mandhana will take the charge of deputy captain during the T20I series.

Pacer Jhulan Goswami, who has just retired from the T20 cricket, will lead the ODI pace attack as usual.
