On Thursday, the BCCI apex council has received a complaint against former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni, who has been appointed as Team India’s mentor for the T20 World Cup, citing the conflict of interest clause in the Lodha Committee reforms. Former Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association life member Sanjeev Gupta has sent a letter to the apex council members that Dhoni’s appointment has been violating the Conflict of Interest clause, under which one person cannot hold two posts.
Dhoni is also captain of the Chennai Super Kings IPL franchise. Informing the same, a BCCI source in PTI said, “Yes, Gupta has sent a letter to apex council members including Sourav (Ganguly) and Jay (Shah). He has cited clause 38 (4) of the BCCI constitution which loosely states that one person cannot be holding two separate posts. The Apex Council will need to consult its legal team to check the ramifications.”

It is understood that Dhoni being a player in the IPL franchise and a mentor in another raises questions for which clarity is needed. MS Dhoni was named mentor for World T20 by secretary Jay Shah on the sidelines of the squad announcement on Wednesday.
MS Dhoni appointment questioned on grounds of conflict of interest. Sanjeev Gupta writes to apex council. Why was Dravid not allowed earlier? Why was he forced to leave RR? How can CSK captain be Indian team mentor. BCCI yet to respond. Letβs see what transpires.

A BCCI official said there's no logic behind the conflict of interest complaint as MS Dhoni will just be guiding the players. Moreover, a mentor has no say in team's selection and one isn't even sure if MS will play for CSK next season. (To ANI).

Former Indian skipper’s retirement, announced by him through an Instagram post on August 15 last year, had taken the cricket world by surprise and he is yet to be even once about it after that.
MS Dhoni has played 90 Tests, 350 ODIs, and 98 T20Is in which he has amassed 4876, 10773, and 1617 runs respectively. He has largely kept a low profile after retiring internationally, focussing on his IPL engagements.
