Amid concerns of potential protests during India’s second Test match against Bangladesh, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that the game will proceed as planned at Green Park Stadium, Kanpur. According to a report by SportsTak, despite the looming threat, the BCCI, in collaboration with local authorities, is closely monitoring the situation and has no intention of altering the venue.
A BCCI official commented, “Yes, we are monitoring the situation with the concerned authorities regarding the threats, but the match will continue as scheduled. The stadium is ready to host both teams, and we’ll keep a close watch not only on Kanpur but other venues as well.”
The threat in question stems from the Hindu Mahasabha, which has signalled possible protests against Bangladesh due to ongoing political tensions in the neighbouring country. Despite the concerns, the BCCI remains committed to ensuring the match takes place as scheduled while maintaining security measures.

On the cricket front, Bangladesh is coming off a morale-boosting 2-0 series win against Pakistan in Rawalpindi. Their star all-rounder, Shakib Al Hasan, has opted to sharpen his skills in county cricket ahead of the series against India. The visitors will be eager to continue their strong form as they face Rohit Sharma’s side in what promises to be a competitive series.
For India, the much-anticipated return of Rishabh Pant to Test cricket will be a significant highlight. Pant’s inclusion marks the final step in his recovery from injuries sustained in a serious road accident last year.

Despite initial rumours that India might rest pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, the team has decided to field him, opting for a cautious approach as they aim to secure vital points for the World Test Championship.
Additionally, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul will also make their comebacks. Kohli had taken a break to welcome the birth of his second child, while Rahul was sidelined by injury during India’s home series against England earlier this year.
