BCCI Forms Sub-Committee For ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 Venue Inspection

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is gearing up for the upcoming World Cup in October and has taken significant steps by forming a sub-committee for venue inspection and infrastructure subsidies. The committee includes existing office bearers, President Roger Binny, Secretary Jay Shah, Treasurer Ashish Sehlar, Vice-President Rajeev Shukla, and Joint Secretary Devajit Saikia, who will oversee the entire process.

Additionally, IPL chairman Arun Singh Dhumal, former treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry, former Apex Council member Prabhtej Bhatia, Karnataka State Cricket Association Secretary A Shankar, and the five office bearers will be responsible for granting infrastructure subsidies.

The office bearers have been assigned specific venues for inspection. Roger Binny, the 1983 World Cup-winning player and current president, will oversee the development of Ahmedabad and Chennai. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is of particular significance as it will host key matches like the tournament opener, India vs. Pakistan clash, and the final.

 

Mumbai and Kolkata, which will host the semi-finals, fall under the responsibility of Joint Secretary Devajit Saikia, along with Trivandrum, which will host warm-up games.

Secretary Jay Shah will be in charge of inspecting venues in Delhi and Dharamshala, while Vice-President Rajeev Shukla will handle Hyderabad and Bengaluru in the southern region. Treasurer Ashish Sehlar will oversee Pune, Lucknow, and Guwahati, with Guwahati hosting warm-up matches.

The BCCI is determined to work diligently through these sub-committees to achieve its shared goals and objectives.
