India will tour England to play the full series which will begin in early July. Ahead of that tour, India ‘A’ has a schedule to tour in England. The head coach of India U19 and India ‘A’ teams, Rahul Dravid has proposed to take some senior Indian cricketers during that India ‘A’ tour in England for adapting the condition before the important international series.

India will play 3 T20Is, 3 ODIs and 5 Tests during their England tour which will begin on July 3. Before that tour, India ‘A’ has a plan to tour in England, while Rahul Dravid and BCCI want some senior cricketers’ involvement in that India ‘A’ tour to adapt to the unfamiliar condition before the full international series.

Apart from that, some senior Indian cricketers will also take part in the English county cricket. At present, the names are Virat Kohli (most probably Surrey), Cheteshwar Pujara (Yorkshire), Ravichandran Ashwin (Warwickshire), Ishant Sharma (Sussex) and Varun Aaron (Leicestershire) – who are going to take part in the upcoming English county season.

BCCI has also the similar India ‘A’ series plan before their Australian tour which will take part at the end of 2018. But, Cricket Australia (CA) has already rejected that India ‘A’ tour plan.

Now, BCCI has requested to New Zealand Cricket (NZC) for conducting an India ‘A’ series before the senior cricket team’s Australian tour. Note in this context, India has also the limited-overs international series on the New Zealand tour after that Australian tour.

Informing about that, a BCCI source said, “The board had no choice than to request New Zealand to have an ‘A’ series around that time. It won’t be as similar conditions like Australia but it will help Indian players to get used to the overseas conditions. So mostly India ‘A’ will have two three-days games followed by one-dayers in New Zealand.”

BCCI has given importance about this since India’s tour of South Africa in 2017/18. Indian cricket team had no warm-up matches before the three-match Test series. That affected badly for the Indian cricket team as they needed some time to adapt the unfamiliar condition. India had lost the first two Tests but then they developed strongly once they adapted to the condition. India won the last Test and also won the ODI and T20I series with much dominating performances.
