Rajasthan Royals (RR) team manager Romi Binder has reportedly escaped with only a fine and a warning after being found using a mobile phone in the dugout during an IPL 2026 match. The issue came to light when Binder was seen on his phone, which is a breach of the BCCI’s Minimum Standards for Players and Match Officials Areas (PMOA). Young RR batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was seated beside him at the time and was also seen looking at the screen.

According to The Times of India, the BCCI’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) has now informed the franchise of its decision after reviewing Binder’s reply to the show-cause notice. The investigators were satisfied with his explanation and accepted that the phone was being used for medical reasons.

“The ACSU conducted the investigation, and a formal communication has been sent to the franchise. Binder received a fine and a warning for using his phone in the dugout; however, investigators were convinced his medical condition required it, so there were no severe consequences,” a senior BCCI official said.

The ACSU had earlier issued a show-cause notice to the Rajasthan Royals manager, and Binder reportedly responded within the 48-hour deadline, submitting his medical records in support of his explanation.

The report also clarified that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was not part of any discussion around the matter. The official added that the youngster should not be dragged into the controversy.

“There was no discussion about Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. He is a kid, and perhaps the franchise can explain the rules better to him. There is no point in intimidating a youngster,” the official said.
