BCCI Leaving No Stone Unturned For The Safety Of The IPL 2020

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is leaving no stone unturned regarding the safety of the players due to the coronavirus pandemic as they have prepared 240-page Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for IPL 2020 in UAE. BCCI’s 240 pages long SOP answers everything that the franchises and cricketers will need in UAE as they get ready for the IPL 2020.

Some of the sources of India Today have suggested that the SOP has planned accordingly so that and diagrams of where players will stand at the opening ceremony to how the presentation will be done after every match. The SOP contains every detail from the time the players assemble in hotels in India to when they come back from the tournament.

From two coronavirus tests to players’ arrangements, the SOP also explains the details of the presentation ceremony diagrammatically. According to the report, any player or official will not be allowed to leave the bio-secure bubble once he enters it after two coronavirus tests. 

Earlier talking to India Today, IPL GC chairman, Brijesh Patel had said, “The IPL will be held from September 19 to November 8. It’s official. The announcement will be made today. The Governing Council meeting will happen within a week. All three venues (in the UAE) will be hosting the tournament.”

The cash-rich league was originally scheduled to commence on March 29 but the BCCI had to suspend IPL 2020 indefinitely in the light of the coronavirus pandemic.

IPL’s Governing Council will be having a meeting on August 2 to give a final shape to the schedule and other arrangements for the eagerly-awaited cash-rich league expected to be taking place in the UAE this year. All the eight franchises will get a clear picture of the tournament’s rules and guidelines during the meeting.

It is expected that most of the franchises have already sent their recce teams to the UAE to check out the facilities as well as the bio-secure environment that can be created, there are concerns that remain, including accommodation plan and catering services.
