It wouldn’t be an exaggeration of thought to say that a lot of cricket got affected due to rain in 2019. Another series that has been marred with inclement rain is the ongoing 5-match T20I series between India Women and South Africa Women. After the first game, the rain washed out the next two T20Is even without the toss. But after two back-to-back washouts, the fans finally got a game in Surat on Tuesday, although it was reduced to a 17-over-a-side affair.

And, now another BCCI has come out news is coming in. In the wake of two washouts, it has now been decided that India Women will play another T20I with South Africa on October 03, 2019, apart from the originally scheduled fifth T20I on October 04.

It wouldn’t be an aberration to say that the Indian women’s team has completely dominated the series thus far. The South Africans have been clueless whatsoever against the spin-triplet of Deepti Sharma, Poonam Yadav, and Radha Yadav.

While it was Deepti Sharma’s 3/8 that stole the show in India’s nerve-wracking 11-run win in the first T20I, it was the turn of their spearhead- Poonam Yadav [3/13]- to prove their worth in the seem. Both Deepti Sharma and Poonam Yadav were adjudged player of the match in the respective T20Is. Away from the limelight, Radha Yadav has done a decent job. The left-arm spinner has returned with figures of 2-29 and 2-16 in the two games, complementing beautifully what is a fearsome trio of spinners.

Apart from their spin bowling, the biggest positive in this series thus far has been the emergence of the 15-year-old Shafali Verma. After missing the chance to make a debut, Shafali ensured that he did not let the second chance slip as she scored a nonchalant 33-ball 46 and along with Jemimah Rodrigues [33] gave an insight on the next-gen of Indian Women’s batting.

As for the South Africans, they will have another opportunity at drawing the series. But for that to happen they will have to find a way past the Indian spinners, who have claimed 13 of the 17 wickets that have fallen thus far
