The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has named Ajinkya Rahane the captain of the Rest of India (ROI) team that will face Ranji Trophy 2018-19 champion Vidarbha in the Irani Cup 2018-19. The match will be played from February 12 in Nagpur. The selectors announced the team on Thursday after the conclusion of the Ranji Trophy final between Vidarbha and Saurashtra, as the former emerged as victorious.
Rahane hasn’t been playing with the senior Indian team and named to lead the domestic team. His last assignment with the limited-overs team came in February 2018 when India toured South Africa. India won the One-Day International series on that tour by 5-1.

Rest of India squad: Ajinkya Rahane (captain), Mayank Agarwal, Anmolpreet Singh, Hanuma Vihari, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan (wicket-keeper), Krishnappa Gowtham, Dharmendrasinh Jadeja, Rahul Chahar, Ankit Rajpoot, Tanveer Ul-Haq, Ronit More, Sandeep Warrier, Rinku Singh, Snell Patel.
Meanwhile, Indian opener KL Rahul is named the captain of India A for the second unofficial Test against England Lions. Currently, he is not playing with the Indian team after a controversy occurred after his appearance at the talk show Koffee with Karan alongside his teammate Hardik Pandya. While the latter made it into the Indian squad, he is yet to find his place back. The second four-day game against England Lions will commence from February 13 in Mysore.
