The confusion surrounding Rohit Sharma’s injury is showing absolutely no signs of coming to an end. In the latest turn of events, a BCCI source has said that the star batsman could still make it to the tour of Australia if Rohit Sharma proves his match fitness when he returns to action in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).

On Monday, BCCI announced the ODI, T20I, and Test squads for the tour of Australia and Rohit have been excluded from the squads. The reason behind his absence from the squads was the hamstring injury he sustained while playing against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) on October 18. But just an hour after the squads were announced, MI shared a video of Rohit batting in nets.

The franchise posted pictures from the training session, showing Rohit Sharma batting in the nets. Unsurprisingly, questions were raised by the cricketing fraternity. However, Rohit will have to pass the fitness test conducted by his IPL team physio as his injury does not look that serious and thus BCCI’s decision to leave him out was surprising.

While the Indian cricket fraternity is busy speculating about the entire episode, one of the BCCI officials increased the confusion further by saying that the net session video posted by Mumbai Indians does not give a true reflection of Rohit Sharma’s injury. The official also stated that Rohit’s injury is more serious than it was believed at the start.

One of the sources of the Hindustan Times in Hindustan Times said, “Rohit’s injury is more severe than believed initially. The nets session video posted by the franchise on Monday may not be a true reflection of where it stands.” A Grade 1 hamstring tear usually takes four to six weeks to heal, a Grade 2 tear could take up to eight weeks.
