ICC T20 World Cup is all set to take place in October in India and the BCCI has reportedly picked nine venues for the mega event. These are – Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Dharamsala, Ahmedabad and Lucknow. While Ahmedabad’s brand new stadium was supposed to lead the charge, Lucknow too will get some games in its brand new stadium as well.
Apart from these two venues, Dharamsala and Hyderabad are also new in the list of venues. However, these four venues didn’t get any game when India last time hosted the T20 World Cup way back in 2016. Meanwhile, Hyderabad getting some matches is a positive thing for HCA (Hyderabad Cricket Association) as they were so wanted to host some games in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Meanwhile, no games mean no revenue for the state associations as well.
However, Mohali hasn’t been added to this list and Ahmedabad will host the final, as per the report. Moreover, the Narendra Modi Stadium will also host the IPL 2021 Final on May 29th as well.

“The nine venues have been informed and it was again discussed that preparations should continue for the showpiece event with an eye on the Covid-19 situation and a call will only be taken closer to the event. It is too early to imagine what can or will happen in October-November with regards to the coronavirus situation. But preparations shall be on,” a BCCI source told ANI.
Apart from this, there were a few more things which were discussed in the meeting. “There were discussions on the domestic calendar as well as the BCCI is very serious about it and we are looking at September to kickstart the season with the Mushtaq Ali and then the 50-over and days format, but then have to see how things pan out. You cannot guess the future in these circumstances,” the source further shared as well.
