BCCI President Sourav Ganguly Tests Negative Of Coronavirus

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president, Sourav Ganguly has tested negative for COVID-19 as he had decided to give his samples as a precautionary measure. The former Indian skipper has been in home quarantine for the last 10 days or so as he last week his elder brother Snehasish Ganguly had tested positive for the contagious disease.

Informing the same one of the sources of the PTI in the same said, “He (Ganguly) is living with his ailing mother and family, so as a precautionary measure he took the test voluntarily and the report came negative on Friday evening.”

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) secretary Snehasish is recovering well and he can be expected to be discharged from the hospital in a couple of days.

The source further added, “He is doing fine and also handling his office work from the hospital through virtual meetings. We expect him to be released in a couple of days.”

Snehasish’s family — wife, mother-in-law, father-in-law along with their domestic help — had tested positive of the coronavirus on June 20 at their Mominpur residence. Since then, the elder Ganguly had to move his base to their ancestral house in Behala where the BCCI President is based.

On Friday, it was announced that the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be taking place between September 19 and November 8  as confirmed by the governing council chairman, Brijesh Patel. It will be played at all 3 venues in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). All the franchises along with players and support staff can be expected to reach UAE by mid-August in order to get enough time to get match ready ahead of the IPL 2020.
