The BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has revealed that chief selector Ajit Agarkar missed the review meeting held in Mumbai on Thursday, September 3, as he was not in town. The meeting came just ahead of India’s T20I series against Afghanistan, which will start on September 13, with all three matches slated to take place in Delhi.

Addressing the media after the meeting, Saikia said (via RevSportz): “He was out of station. He could not be a part of the meeting because this meeting was called at very short notice, and our head of the selection committee, Ajit, was not in town, so he could not join it. He was in such an area that he could not join online also, in spite of our best efforts.”

With chief selector Ajit Agarkar’s term set to end this month, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia was also asked about that while addressing the media. However, he added that there was no such discussion during the meeting, which primarily focused on India’s performances on their tours of Ireland, England, and Sri Lanka, as well as future series and the 2027 ODI World Cup as well.

He said: “There was no such discussion in today’s meeting. There was no discussion on the selection committee. Our whole focus was performance in England and Ireland, as well as the recent Test series in Sri Lanka and what we are going to do in the upcoming series, plus the World Cup, which is our ultimate goal.”
