The inaugural final of the World Test Championship (WTC) scheduled to be commencing on June 18, the Indian team has ramped up their preparations and they are currently playing an intra-squad match. The highlights video showed snippets of the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Ravichandran Ashwin showing off their bowling skills against batting stars like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
On Saturday, the BCCI shared the highlights from Day 1 on Twitter, and captioned it as, “A good Day 1 at office for #TeamIndia at the intra-squad match simulation ahead of #WTC21 Final”.

Recently, BCCI also shared a couple of two videos of the “high intensity” training session of Team India, in the last two days. In the latest video, the Kohli-led team seems to have ticked all the boxes with players sweating it out on the field working hard on each and every skill required to be in the top-notch form before taking the field on June 18.

Earlier on Thursday the BCCI tweeted, “We have had our first group training session and the intensity was high. Team India”s preparations are on in full swing for the WTC21 Final.”

Team India reached Southampton on June 3 and after that, every member of the touring contingent underwent three-day mandatory hard quarantine. At the Hampshire Bowl, the players had undergone tests again before commencing a period of managed isolation. Regular tests will be conducted during the period of isolation.

Prior to departing for England, the Indian head coach Ravi Shastri had said that going ahead, the International Cricket Council (ICC) should look to make the final of the WTC a best-of-three contest.
Meanwhile, the New Zealand team is already in the UK for their bilateral series against England and the team will be joining from the ECB bio-secure environment into the WTC Final bubble on June 15 and will be undergoing tests prior to and post-arrival in Southampton.
