BCCI To Allow Both Men’s and Women’s Team In Los Angeles Olympics

The BCCI Apex Council has on Friday has taken a great decision where they have decided that, in principle, to allow both the men’s and the women’s teams at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles if cricket is included in the list. However, the women’s team will take part at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham as well.

The Apex Council members who met virtually has also decided that the women’s team led by Mithali Raj and Harmanpreet Kaur in the 50-over and 20-over respectively will tour Australia at the end of this year as well. Later, they will have the New Zealand tour which will be played just before the Women’s ODI World Cup in New Zealand early next year.

“The women’s team will be playing in the Birmingham CWG. If finally cricket is a part of 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, then both men and women”s team will take part. This has been decided in principle,” a senior BCCI functionary privy to developments of the day said to the PTI on conditions of anonymity.

On the other hand, like last year, a camp will be held before the three-team Women’s T20 Challenge and after the four-match series, the team will fly to England for one Test, three ODIs and as many T20Is as well. Apart from that, a full-fledged women’s domestic season (50 over and T20) will soon be organised too.

“The girls will play a full series in England. Once they come back, West Indies or Proteas women will again come for bilateral series. Once that’s over, the team will be travelling to Australia for a white ball series and then will play another series in New Zealand. The New Zealand bilateral (or tri-nation series) will be a pre-cursor to the ODI World Cup,” he further added.

Along with these, the BCCI secretary Jay Shah has also revealed the news to the Apex Council that Government has decided to give visas to the Pakistan cricketers for the upcoming T20 World Cup which is all set to take place in India later this year.
