The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be discussing the inclusion of two new teams to the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the inclusion of cricket in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics in its next annual general meeting which is scheduled to be taking place on December 24.
Currently, the IPL has eight franchises and its latest edition was took place in the United Arab Emirates without fans due to the coronavirus pandemic. Notably, according to the recent reports, the BCCI has listed a total of 23 matters to be discussed at the AGM including the election of the vice president.

As per the reports of Reuters, in their AGM agenda, BCCI included, “Approval on the inclusion of 2 (two) new teams to the Indian Premier League”.
Another important point will be BCCI”s representative to the ICC and the Asian Cricket Council. It is expected that secretary Jay Shah will be representing the board in the global committees. The appointment of three new selectors, along with the chief selector, is also on cards given that Cricket Committees and Standing Committees are part of the agenda.
Describing the same one of teh source in BCCI said, “Selection committee is a part of the cricket committee plus the technical committee also needs to be formed. They are all statutory subcommittees.”

Cricket featured at the 1900 Olympics and was played in the 1998 Commonwealth Games but has largely been absent from multi-sport events, which critics say has restricted the sport’s growth beyond its traditional pockets. The International Cricket Council (ICC), the world governing body of the sport, backs the idea of the sport’s inclusion in the Olympics but the BCCI has been reluctant.
