Ben Stokes Complains About The ICC Cap, The Board Apologizes

The fiery English all-rounder, Ben Stokes was one of the most impactful all-rounders in the last decade and as a result, the International Cricket Council (ICC) named him in its Test and ODI teams of the decade. However, on Wednesday, Stokes took to social media to thank ICC and say that he is proud to get the caps for both teams.

However, he also added a little quip about the Test Team of the Decade cap being a bit too similar to the ‘Baggy Green’ worn by England’s biggest rivals, Australia. Along with him wearing both the caps, captioning post on Instagram, Stokes wrote: “Very proud of both these cap’s,one of them just doesn’t seem right,it’s a bit BAGGY and GREEN thanks @icc”.

Seeing the funny side to it, ICC took to Twitter to issue an apology in jest. Replying to Stokes, ICC wrote: “Sorry @BenStokes38!”

The New Zealand-born all-rounder has been one of the most exciting cricketers in the decade. In 67 Tests he played for England, Ben Stokes has scored 4428 runs at an average of 37.84, while scalping as many as 158 wickets as well. In ODIs, he has scored 2682 runs and 70 wickets in 95 matches.

Stokes played a heroic knock in the final of the 2019 World Cup to help England lift the trophy for the first time. He followed that up with his match-winning knock in the Ashes Test in Headingley, taking England to victory in dramatic circumstances.

Earlier this month, Ben Stokes lost his father after a long battle with brain cancer. The England all-rounder took to Instagram on Wednesday where he wrote an emotional message for his late father along with a photograph of him with a broad smile on his face.

Captioning the images on his official Instagram handle, Stokes had said, “In different places now me and you Ged but knowing you’ll always have this smile on your face make’s me smile every time I think of you”.
