In the final over of the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), pacer Harshal Patel attempted running-out Ravi Bishnoi at the non-striker’s end, who was miles ahead of his crease. The spinner left the crease early and if Patel had followed the rules during his attempt, Bishnoi would have given out and the match would have been decided in the Super Over.

However, by pointing the incident out on his Twitter account, Harsha Bhogle silenced the critics who are not in support of the non-striker’s run-out law. Previously, a lot of former and present English and Australian cricketers have pointed out that it is against the ‘Spirit of the Game’ but Harsha in his tweet took a dig at them this time around and said that only a silly person will be against the idea.

“Bishnoi was leaving his crease early. Any silly people out there still saying you shouldn’t run the non-striker out?” Bhogle questioned.

Meanwhile, England Test skipper Ben Stokes gave a quick reply and suggested a rule change in which the batting team gets a six-run penalty if the non-striker leaves his crease early. Stokes mentioned that this would end all the controversy and that the unfair advantage would stop.

“Thought’s Harsha? Umpires discretion.. 6 penalty runs is obviously trying to gain unfair advantage by leaving the crease early? Would stop batters doing it without all the controversy,” Stokes pointed out.

Harsha Bhogle later stated that he is happy to hear Stokes’ perspective and would love to have a conversation with him about the same. The cricket expert also wished Stokes a quick recovery as the all-rounder is out of action. In his reply, Harsha Bhogle wrote, “Happy to get your perspective, Ben. I am doing a game in Chennai if you have a few minutes. And hope you are fit and playing again soon”.

Meanwhile, Lucknow registered a one-wicket win over Bangalore. It was also their third win of the IPL 2023 season. Despite so, KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda’s form will bother the team management ahead of their next match against Punjab Kings.
