Ben Stokes Predicts T20 World Cup Final Between England And Pakistan

The Pakistan cricket team has been enjoying a purple patch in the ongoing 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup. The Babar Azam-led outfit has pulled off wins in all the 3 matches they have played and as a result, they are leading the points table in Group 2. On the other hand, England too has started their campaign on a rousing note, and is unbeaten in the tournament as well, after playing 2 matches.

And now, the flamboyant English all-rounder Ben Stokes has already predicted the finalists of the tournament. Stokes took to Twitter and wondered whether Pakistan and England will lock horns with each other in the finale. In his tweet, Ben Stokes wrote: “England vs Pakistan Final ???”

The Pakistan side registered a thrilling win over Afghanistan in their third match of the Super 12 stages of the tournament on 29th October 2021. Batting first, Afghanistan posted a total of 147/6 on the board. In reply, Pakistan chased down the target with 5 wickets and an over to spare, with Asif Ali helping his side to victory by smashing four sixes in the 19th over of the game when they needed 24 off 12 balls.

Ben Stokes praise Ali in his own unique style as he tweeted, ” Remember the name @AasifAli2018″. When Carlos Braithwaite smashed Ben Stokes for four sixes to help West Indies win the trophy in T20 World Cup 2016, the renowned commentator, Ian Bishop had chanted similar lines. Ian Bishop had said, “Carlos Brathwaite! Carlos Brathwaite! Remember the name!”

On the other hand, England decimated the Bangladesh side in their second match of the Super 12 stages. Batting first, the Bangladesh outfit could only manage a total of 124/9 in their 20 overs. In reply, Jason Roy played a dominating knock of 38-ball 61 at the top of the order as Eoin Morgan’s member got over teh the line with 8 wickets in hand.

Both Pakistan and England have already won the T20 World Cup once. While Pakistan emerged as the champions in the 2009 edition of the tournament, England had lifted the trophy in the year 2010. Eoin Morgan and his men will next be seen in action against their arch-rivals Australia on 30th October 2021 in Dubai.
