Today, on July 8, 2018, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly turns the 46-year-old. Apart from being one of greatest left-handed batsmen in his time, Ganguly was also one of the great captains in Indian cricket history.

At the age of just 19 years, Ganguly made his international cricket debut in January 1992 through the ODI cricket. On January 11, 1992, Ganguly played his first ODI against West Indies at Brisbane. However, he had to wait more than four years to earn his next chance to play for India.

In June 1996, Ganguly made his Test debut against England at Lord’s where he scored a Test century. Since then, Ganguly had a long glorious career. As an Indian captain, Ganguly led in many memorable achievements for the nation and some of those were – winner in 2002 ICC Champions Trophy (joint-winner with the hosts Sri Lanka), runner-up in 2003 ICC Cricket World Cup etc.

The left-handed batsman Sourav Ganguly played 113 Tests and 311 ODIs where he scored 7,212 runs and 11,363 runs respectively.

Ganguly was also a good right-arm medium bowler who took a total of 132 wickets (100 in ODI and 32 in Test) in his international career.

Ganguly led the Indian cricket in 49 Tests and 147 ODIs where India won in 21 Tests and 76 ODIs.
