Sai Sudharsan experienced one of the most bizarre moments of IPL 2026 during the Gujarat Titans’ Qualifier 2 clash against the Rajasthan Royals after getting dismissed hit-wicket for the second consecutive playoff match. The unusual dismissal quickly became one of the biggest talking points on social media despite another sensational innings from the GT opener.

Just days after suffering a rare hit-wicket dismissal against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Qualifier 1, Sudharsan once again saw his promising knock end in an identical fashion. During the Gujarat Titans’ massive chase of 215 against the Rajasthan Royals, the left-hander accidentally dragged his bat onto the stumps while attempting to play a shot behind square on the off side.
The strange coincidence stunned fans and commentators alike, especially considering how similar the dismissal looked to the one against RCB earlier in the playoffs. Clips of the incident immediately went viral online, with cricket fans struggling to believe the same batter had been dismissed hit-wicket in back-to-back knockout games.

The duo added a breathtaking 167-run partnership in just 77 deliveries, putting the Gujarat Titans firmly in control of the chase. At one stage, GT looked set to complete a comfortable 10-wicket victory as both batters attacked fearlessly.
Sudharsan brought up his half-century in just 26 balls and also crossed the 700-run mark for IPL 2026, further strengthening his position among the tournament’s leading run-scorers. His consistency throughout the season has been one of the biggest reasons behind the Gujarat Titans’ strong playoff run.

Even after Sudharsan’s dismissal, Gujarat Titans maintained complete control of the chase. Shubman Gill continued his sensational batting display and smashed a magnificent century in just 47 balls, keeping GT on course for a memorable victory.
However, despite the quality of Gujarat’s batting performance, it was Sudharsan’s bizarre back-to-back hit-wicket dismissals that dominated cricket conversations across social media platforms.
