Many of the greatest bowlers to have bowled in the game of cricket never managed to conjure the magical feat of a hat-trick of wickets. IPL has a crazy history of hat-tricks though. While Lasith Malinga has no hat-tricks, Yuvraj Singh has two.

Going one step ahead, on this day in 2013, Amit Mishra became the only bowler in the IPL history to pick up three hat-tricks in the tournament. Interestingly all of Mishra’s hat-tricks have come playing for different teams. His first was for Delhi Daredevils against Deccan Chargers in 2008 and second was for Deccan Charger against KXIP. His third came up for Sunrisers Hyderabad against Sahara Pune Warriors.

In the home match of Pune, the Sahara Warriors needed 14 off the final two overs when Mishra started bowling at the Subrata Sahara Stadium. Batting first, SRH scored only 119/8. Pune looked coasting comfortably at 107/6 when Mishra began his over. He picked up the wicket of Pune captain Angelo Mathews off the second ball of the over but this was just a start.

Later, Amit Mishra removed Bhuvaneshwar Kumar off the fourth delivery with a flipper. A wild slog by Rahul Sharma off the fifth delivery was an impetuous shot. Amith Mishra was now on a hat-trick and Ashok Dinda was on the strike. Mishra foxed Ashok Dinda with a googly off his final delivery of the spell. The leggie celebrated his third IPL hat-trick!
Manish Pandey was a mute spectator from one end as he watched his partners going down one by one. With Dinda being the last man out, Sunrisers Hyderabad won the match by 11 runs.
