Earlier in the night, Kolkata captain Gautam Gambhir won the toss and chose to field first. Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner came out to open. After two quiet overs, Dhawan and Warner started their assault. They targeted Chris Woakes and smashed him for 17 runs with two sixes and a four.

Warner stepped up in the next over and struck three consecutive boundaries on three balls to Yusuf Pathan. David then mounted the attack on every incoming bowler. SRH’s score at the end of the power play was 79/0 with David Warner batting on 62 runs from 25 balls.

After relatively quiet middle overs, David Warner again took the initiative and mauled the Left-arm spin of Kuldeep Yadav. He smacked the last three balls of the 10th over to take himself to 98 runs from just 40 balls. SRH at the half-way mark was 123/0. In the next over of Umesh Yadav, Warner notched up a ton in just 43 balls and he still had 9 overs to bat.

With Dhawan’s dismissal, the strike rotation to Warner slowed down and Williamson faced more balls from the other end. Warner was finally dismissed by Chris Woakes for 126 runs from 59 balls. he scored 10 fours and 8 sixes in the stellar innings. SRH ended with the final score of 209/3 in 20 overs.

KKR’s best hopes of chasing it down relied heavily on Sunil Narine providing a stunning start but he was out in the second over and 50% hopes were down. Robin Uthappa lighted up some hopes with his 28-balls 53 but it was too little. They ended up with 161/7 and conceded the loss by 48 runs.
