In the season 2018 of IPL, Sunrisers Hyderabad has been a revelation. They are seemingly defending everything they are putting up. They have defended 118, 132 and 152. The low scores have been their strong points and their bowlers are in top gear. The same was not the case a year back though. On this day in 2017, Delhi managed to chase 185 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The 40th match of the IPL 2017 was played at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, Delhi. DD captain Karun Nair won the toss and decided to field first.

SRH started off with adding up 66 in the Powerplay overs with the wicket of David Warner for 30. Warner was the mega wicket as just in the last week, he had smashed 126 while batting first. It was Mohammad Shami who broke through his defense and bowled him on 30 of 21.

DD made a comeback of sorts in the middle overs by removing Shikhar Dhawan (28) and Kane Williamson (24) in quick succession. SRH in the 12th over found themselves at 92/3 with Yuvraj and Henriques at the crease.

Delhi Spinners Jayant Yadav and Amit Mishra kept the runs down. Both combined gave only 49 runs in their 8 overs. It took a special inning from Yuvraj Singh (70* off 44) who after a dropped catch, put on a 93-run partnership with Moises Henriques that eventually took Sunrisers to 185 for 3. Kagiso Rabada was the worse hit as he conceded 59 runs in his four overs.

Daredevils started their chase briskly, with Sanju Samson’s 19-ball 24 and Karun Nair’s 20-ball 39 (five fours and two sixes) setting the pace early on. The momentum was picked up by the rest of the top-order, who produced a chain of quick cameos before the allrounders Corey Anderson (41* off 24) and Chris Morris (15* off 7) put on an unbroken 41 off 19 balls to take them past the target with five balls to spare.

Brief Scores:

Delhi Daredevils 189 for 4 (Anderson 41*, Nair 39, Siraj 2-41) beat Sunrisers Hyderabad 185 for 3 (Yuvraj 70*, Warner 30, Shami 2-36) by six wickets
