His participation in the upcoming World Cup was doubtful, but the batsman has recovered just in time for the marquee event. He made his much-awaited return in the Asia Cup and looked impressive. In his comeback game, he scored an impressive unbeaten century against Pakistan. He also impressed with his wicketkeeping during the competition.

While KL Rahul did well in his comeback tournament, he committed a huge blunder as a wicketkeeper in the ongoing first ODI against Australia. The stand-in India skipper missed an easy run-out chance. He had the opportunity to send back Marnus Labuschagne but he failed to grab the opportunity.

On the first ball of the 23rd over bowled by Ravindra Jadeja, Labuschagne played a drive towards Suryakumar Yadav at cover. Suryakumar could not gather the ball cleanly, and Labuschagne decided to steal a quick single. As soon as Suryakumar fumbled, the Australia batter set off for the single. His partner Cameron Green, however, did not want the run.

Marnus Labuschagne charged towards the non-striker’s end and had almost reached the middle of the pitch when Green sent him back. In the meantime, Suryakumar had picked the ball up and thrown it towards KL Rahul. However, the wicketkeeper failed to collect the ball, and Labuschagne managed to get back inside the crease safely.
