Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has backed teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to succeed across all formats of the game after the Rajasthan Royals opener continued his stunning rise in IPL 2026 with another fearless innings against the Gujarat Titans. Speaking after Rajasthan Royals’ heavy defeat in Jaipur, Ashwin praised the 15-year-old’s fearless mindset and attacking range, saying Sooryavanshi already looks like a rare entertainer capable of lighting up cricket in every format.

“He is taking every bowler down. I wouldn’t mind watching him in a Test match, and I wouldn’t mind watching him in all three formats of the game,” RavichandranAshwin said while speaking on JioHotstar. “Get him onto cricket grounds because he is the kind of player people will come to watch.”

Sooryavanshi once again delivered a blazing start for Rajasthan Royals during their steep chase of 230 against Gujarat Titans at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. The teenager smashed 36 runs off just 16 deliveries, hammering three fours and three sixes while taking on experienced pacers Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada without hesitation.

Ashwin described the young opener as a “box-office player” and urged fans and experts not to place unnecessary pressure on someone so early in his career.

“He is leaving no stone unturned and putting every ounce of force into the cricket ball,” Ravichandran Ashwin explained. “At 15 years old, this is the time to enjoy cricket freely. There’s no need to burden him with expectations or ask him to change his natural game.”

The former India spinner also pointed out that Rajasthan Royals have enough experienced players in the middle order, including Dhruv Jurel, Riyan Parag and Donovan Ferreira, allowing Sooryavanshi to continue playing aggressively at the top. Sooryavanshi has been one of the breakout stars of IPL 2026. In 11 matches, the teenage opener has scored 440 runs, including one century and two fifties, while emerging as Rajasthan Royals’ leading run-scorer this season.
