The Australian leg-spinner, Adam Zampa committed a huge mistake of dropping the catch of the Indian skipper, Virat Kohli during the first ODI between Australia and India at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Friday. Australia was well on top of the proceedings when Kohli walked out to bat after the dismissal of Mayank Agarwal.
Chasing a humongous target of 375, India started off well as Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan took the team to the 50-run mark in just 4.1 overs. And in an attempt to continue the fast start, Agarwal lost his wicket in the sixth over. It brought Kohli at the crease who looked a bit shaky at the start. The India captain had managed to score just 1 off the first six balls when Australia had the chance to send him back.

In the seventh over, Kohli top-edged a Pat Cummins delivery towards at fine-led where Adam Zampa was standing. It was a regulation catch but to everyone’s surprise, Zampa failed to hold on to it. The ball passed through his hands before landing on the field. As if that was not enough, Kohli rubbed more salt to Zampa’s injuries by smashing two back-to-back fours in the same over.
Adam Zampa and Virat Kohli recently shared the dressing room for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2020. Zampa was included in the squad later on as a replacement of his compatriot Kane Richardson pulled out. And so when Zampa dropped an easy catch to give his IPL captain a reprieve, former Australia spinner Brad Hogg came up with a hilarious reaction.

Hogg took to Twitter and joked that Zampa repaid Kohli for an IPL contract. In the same tweet, Hogg also defended the spinner by saying that ‘we all drop them’, as he tweeted, “Zampa repaying @imVkohli for an IPL contract. We all drop them. ”
Here is the tweet from Hogg:

Nonetheless, Kohli failed to make the most of the lifeline and departed after scoring just 21. As far as the match is concerned, India is currently at 246 for 5 after 38 overs. Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya are in the middle.
