Brad Hogg Names a Better Off Spinner Than Ravi Ashwin

The outbreak of the COVID-19 virus has brought the world to a standstill with many countries being completely lockdown for safety and to contain the spread of the virus. Many cricketers have also been proactive on their social media in the past few weeks due to the lockdown. Several cricketers have been actively using Instagram live or Twitter Q&A to spend some time with the fans. Former Australian leg-spinner Brad Hogg also joined in the group and decided to answer a few questions asked by the fans.

During one such social media interaction with fans, the Australian spinner was asked to name a better off-spinner in the longest format of the game. The left-arm wrist-spinner was presented with 2 options which consisted of Aussie cricketer Nathan Lyon is a better off-spinner than India’s Ravichandran Ashwin.

Brad Hogg was quick to respond to the Twitterati. The former Australian spin bowler named his fellow countrymen Lyon as a better off-spinner compared to Ravichandra Ashwin. Hog explained his answer by suggesting that Lyon’s as a cricketer has significantly improved over the last year.

“I feel Lyon has taken the mantle from Ashwin over the last year just as the best off-spinner, but I love the way both continue to improve there games and not be complacent where they are at. #hoggytime,” Hogg tweeted.

Nathan Lyon has been a constant for the Australian team for over a decade now. The off-spinner has been a threat in the red ball matches and has combined well with the Australian pace attack over the years.

Both Nathan Lyon and Ravichandra Ashwin began their test career in 2011. While the Australian spinner has managed to scalp 390 test wickets his counterpart Ravichandra Ashwin isn’t far behind. Ashwin has 365 dismissals to his name.
