The cricket world is praising with full of heart to the Indian skipper Virat Kohli for his brilliant consistent batting performances for a long time. Legendary Caribbean batsman Brian Lara has remarked Kohli as a leader in present cricket.
The 29-year-old right-handed batsman Virat Kohli is the top-ranked Test and ODI batsman at present. Recently, he becomes the fastest batsman to score 10,000 ODI runs.
Praising the Indian skipper, former West Indies captain Brian Lara told PTI on Saturday, “Whatever Kohli is doing today is phenomenal. The rate of scoring, his fitness, and the importance he gives to a lot of different things. It is great to see that the game has a leader at this moment.”

During their playing times, the Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar and the Caribbean legend Brian Lara were mostly featured in the comparisons on the best ever batsmen topics. While Lara and Tendulkar both have never given importance on those kinds of comparisons, Lara is also confident that Kohli also doesn’t pay much attention to these things.
Lara said, “If you talk about Sachin and me – you read a lot about it and you hear about the comparisons and it was not a significant thing (for us).
“I am sure Kohli also does not pay much attention to these things. I think everyone gets it wrong. Everyone grows up in a different era and you have to appreciate what anyone brings to the table.”

Lara feels that even the top-class players can’t be compared as everyone has different styles of batting and has played in different time periods too.
He said, “In my era, you had (Rahul) Dravid, (Sachin)Tendulkar, (Jacques) Kallis, myself and Ricky Ponting – all of us brought something different to the table. How can any of us sit down here and say that somebody is better than Viv Richards, or Sir Garfield Sobers, or any of those great players? We just appreciate the career they have had and move on.”
Recently, Lara had a surprise visit to Sachin’s house where they spoke about golf and cricket, including the great fast bowlers like Curtly Ambrose.
