The BCCI’s Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) is all set to get down to the work of selecting two national selectors at their first meeting here on Tuesday. The CAC, comprised of three members, which is supposed to pick the selectors as per the BCCI constitution, did not do much since its appointment on January 31.
The committee comprising former India cricketers Madan Lal, RP Singh and Sulakshana Naik will be selecting the candidates for the personal interviews. Lal, who had earlier said to the PTI that they had received 44 applications so far for two positions, confirmed on Monday that he will go to Mumbai for the meeting.
“Yes, I will be going for the meeting but I don’t know the details yet,” he told PTI.
However, a source of BCCI confirmed that the meeting is scheduled to shortlist the candidates now as the CAC is looking for replacements of the selection panel chief MSK Prasad and another panel member Gagan Khoda. BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, on the other hand, who did not go to Dubai for the Asian Cricket Council meetings due to the huge threat of dangerous coronavirus, is expected to be present at the BCCI headquarters on Tuesday.

However, in January, the BCCI chief had said that the new selection panel will choose the India squad for the home ODIs against South Africa which will begin in Dharamsala on March 12.
“There is still time for the South Africa series. The entire process for picking the new selectors will be done this week,” said a BCCI official.
As far as India’s cricket is concerned, the men’s team has faced a humiliating series defeat in the hands of New Zealand. Their batsmen failed to cope up with the pressure given by the pace attack of the Kiwis. However, the women’s team has successfully reached the semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup.
