The veteran Australian opener, David Warner’s wife Candice Warner has taken a sly dig at the critics of her husband after Aaron Finch-led Australian side scripted history by winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 on Sunday. Being praised for his match-winning knock against Kane Williamson-led New Zealand in the final of the ICC World T20 2021, premier opener Warner guided the men in yellow to their maiden world title in the shortest format of the game at the Dubai International Stadium.

Taking to Twitter after Australia’s historic win over Williamson’s New Zealand in the summit clash, Candice Warner decided to poke fun at Warner’s critics for questioning the inclusion of the veteran opener in the star-studded World Cup squad. She wrote, “Out of form, too old and slow! @davidwarner31.”

Ahead of the T20 World Cup 2021, David Warner had witnessed a disastrous season with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 14th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Leading the Finch-led side to World Cup glory at Dubai, Warner slammed a match-winning 53 to help Australia upstage their trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand in the mich-awaited final.

David Warner was also named the Player of the Tournament for ending Australia’s 14-year wait to win their maiden T20 World Cup trophy. Warner stitched a brilliant 92-run partnership with Mitchell Marsh, who remained unbeaten on 72 to make sure Australia outclass New Zealand by 8 wickets in the final of the T20 World Cup 2021 at Dubai.

In the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, David Warner amassed 289 runs and now he holds the record of scoring the most runs by an Australian batter in a single edition of the T20 World Cup.
