India and South Africa are scheduled to lock horns with each other in the second T20I of the three-match series at the PCA stadium in Mohali, Chandigarh. The first match scheduled at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala was abandoned due to some heavy downpour. Even during the Proteas’ previous tour, the series opener at the Eden Gardens was washed out and they will be desperate for some action.

The second T20I will be played on Wednesday, with the forecast giving no signs of rain and a full game of 40 overs seems possible. Virat Kohli and Quinton de Kock both are looking forward to finding the best possible team for the ICC World T20 2020 to be played in Australia with both the team having some youngsters who have played quite a few T20s on the domestic level.

However, PCA management is facing a bigger issue as they have been unable to provide police protection to Team India coming into the city. This is because of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) having unpaid bills to the tune of ₹9 crores towards the Chandigarh police, forcing the department to deny security cover according to the Times Now.

Both the Indian and South African teams were received at the airport and provided security by the Mohali police. However, they did that until the territory of Chandigarh police started. Due to the pending bill from the BCCI, the Chandigarh police decided against giving any security cover at all. However, the teams have received private security arrangements in their hotels.

The Men in Blue features many names that are trying to cement their places for the upcoming showcase ICC event. The likes of Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Rishabh Pant, Khaleel Ahmed, Navdeep Saini, and Rahul Chahar will be trying to make the most of these opportunities to make a mark with their performances.

On the other hand, South Africa didn’t have the services of Faf du Plessis, AB de Villiers, Dale Steyn, and Hashim Amla, who had made the trip last time in 2015 and the team are led by De Kock for the first time in a full-time capacity. The Proteas are also trying to build a fresh squad for the 2020 ICC event and the journey starts with this series for both teams.
