Chaos Erupts Outside Barabati Stadium As Fans Rush For Tickets Ahead Of India vs England ODI

Police had to rush in to maintain an unruly situation at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack as people began to mob around for the second ODI of a three-match series between India and England. Video of the situation caught fans stuffed close together and a team of police officers trying to keep control over the disarray.

To cool down the situation, a water hose was also brought in to disperse the crowd. The match is scheduled to take place on Sunday, February 9, and it’s clear the demand for tickets was high.

India enjoys a good record at the Barabati Stadium, having won 13 of the 17 ODIs played there. The last ODI that India hosted at this venue was back in December 2019, where they managed to win a toss by four wickets on the West Indies.

 

The highest score India has recorded so far at the ground in a 50-over match is 381, and the lowest total stands at 178. It promises to be another exciting series between the two arch-rivals with the first of the three-match series scheduled in Nagpur on Thursday, 6th of February.

Going into the series, India does so on a high after thoroughly outplaying the Englishmen to win the series 4-1 in T20Is, though the tourists did manage a 26-run victory in the third T20I. Historically, India is a team that enjoys the upper hand in ODIs with 58 victories compared to the 44 achieved by England over the 107 games they have played against each other. It promises to be an exciting encounter between the two teams, looking to assert themselves.
