Charlie Vickers, best known for his role in “The Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power,” recently shared his admiration for Indian cricket superstar Virat Kohli. The actor, who typically cheers for the Australian cricket team, revealed that Kohli is one of his favourite players, and he nearly had a chance to meet the cricket legend during a trip to New Zealand.
During his stay in Auckland, Vickers had what he described as a surreal fan moment. He recalled staying in the same hotel as Kohli and being completely starstruck when he saw the Indian cricketer. The actor admitted that despite being just steps away from the modern-day cricket great, his nerves got the best of him.

“I was too nervous,” Vickers confessed, explaining why he didn’t approach Kohli to exchange pleasantries. For Vickers, the mere sighting of Kohli was enough to solidify his admiration for the cricketer.

Vickers, who hails from Melbourne, also shared his connection to Indian culture through cricket. He mentioned that Australian fast bowler Brett Lee played a pivotal role in this connection, thanks to Lee’s collaboration with legendary Indian singer Asha Bhosle on the song “You’re The One For Me.” This unique blend of cricket and Bollywood left a lasting impression on Vickers.
Though Vickers missed out on joining his fellow cast members for a promotional tour of India for the first season of “The Rings of Power,” he noted how fondly his colleagues spoke about their time in the country.
